Manufacturing floor

Fixed cells, collaborative arms, and mobile robots sharing a floor with people, on takt times that do not flex.

  • Process data is trade-secret material
  • RF dead zones behind steel and machinery
  • Downtime is contractual, not inconvenient

WHY CLOUD FAILS HERE

A line that pauses when a WAN link hiccups fails its takt; process video and yield telemetry are exactly what cannot be exported to shared infrastructure.

DESIGNED TO PROVIDE

A facility plane on the floor doing fleet coordination and inference in local time, adaptation on the plant's own data overnight, and nothing about the process leaving the building.

Port & logistics yard

Cranes, yard tractors, and inspection systems across acres of steel containers — a canyon landscape for radio.

CONSTRAINTS

  • Coverage is structurally unreliable
  • Cargo data carries customer and customs obligations
  • Mixed vendors, one traffic pattern

WHY CLOUD FAILS HERE

Machines that need a live uplink to think stop thinking behind every container stack; manifests and container imagery are contractually confined.

DESIGNED TO PROVIDE

Edge nodes that keep full autonomy through coverage gaps, a yard-side facility plane holding the shared picture, and data that stays within the terminal's boundary.

Warehouse & fulfillment

Dense mobile-robot fleets, high-rate picking, and layouts that change with the season — throughput measured continuously.

  • Fleet coordination is latency-sensitive
  • Order data is commercially sensitive
  • The network budget is already spent

WHY CLOUD FAILS HERE

Coordinating hundreds of machines through a remote service adds a round trip to every decision and a monthly bill to every camera; a regional outage becomes a site outage.

DESIGNED TO PROVIDE

Coordination and the shared world model onsite, per-machine autonomy at the edge, and overnight adaptation that tracks the building as it changes.

Defense & expeditionary

Forward sites and disconnected operations where autonomous systems work exactly because people should not have to.

CONSTRAINTS

  • Emissions are a targeting signature
  • Classification confines every byte
  • Logistics are austere; power and cooling are scarce

WHY CLOUD FAILS HERE

Reachback is a vulnerability twice over — an emitting dependency and an exfiltration path. Commercial cloud terms do not survive contact with classification.

DESIGNED TO PROVIDE

Air-gapped operation as the default posture, updates by signed bundle on the unit's schedule, and attestation that proves fleet integrity without a connection to anything.

Energy & utilities

Inspection and maintenance fleets across generation sites, substations, and linear infrastructure — regulated as critical infrastructure.

CONSTRAINTS

  • Compliance regimes dictate data handling
  • Sites are remote with thin backhaul
  • Grid operations data is a national-security concern

Critical-infrastructure rules and thin rural links make streaming plant imagery to shared datacenters both prohibited and impractical.

Sovereign compute at the site, inspection intelligence that improves on the operator's own data, and an audit trail an infrastructure regulator can read.

Hospital & regulated facility

Logistics and service robots moving through spaces where nearly everything a camera sees is protected by statute.

  • Patient privacy law reaches every sensor
  • Audits are routine, not exceptional
  • Machines share corridors with the public

WHY CLOUD FAILS HERE

A robot camera stream is a compliance event the moment it leaves the building; consent and processing agreements for continuous video do not scale to a fleet.

DESIGNED TO PROVIDE

Perception processed inside the facility with nothing exported, a sealed system with a defined workload to show the compliance office, and provable integrity for machines that work around people.
